Madrid parade La Decima

Real Madrid have paraded their 10th European Cup around the Spanish capital, ending with a celebration at Santiago Bernabeu.

It was the second parade since the final after Madrid marked their success in the traditional manner, with a journey to Plaza de Cibeles, upon their return from Lisbon early on Sunday morning.

Sunday night saw a parade to Madrid’s community headquarters and then on to the Bernabeu, where the players were introduced individually, a number of speeches were made and the European Cup was placed on a plinth alongside the nine previously claimed by Los Blancos.

AS reports that the players brought their children onto the field for the celebration and Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal showed off their new looks, Modric’s short hair and Carvajal’s yellow beard the result of pre-final promises.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti even sang the song composed for the occasion, having also been introduced to the crowd – as were his assistants Zinidine Zidane and Paul Clement.

“Goodnight Bernabeu. Thanks for your patience, but it was worth it after 12 years, back to being Kings of Europe,” Casillas told the crowd.

“It is for you and all Madridistas. You have to think of La Undecima [the Eleventh].”

Madrid won the trophy with a 4-1 win over city rivals Atletico Madrid, the goals coming from Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo.
