Marc-Andre Ter Stegen believes he will fit in well at Barcelona as he completes his move to Camp Nou from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The goalkeeper has spoken with Barca’s official television channel and website, with his comments published by AS.
“I think my strengths fit in with Barca as I don’t think there’s any other team that really likes playing football,” the Germany international said.
“I think I fit in perfectly and I want to show it in future.
“I’m a goalkeeper who likes to participate and also runs some risks. Nowadays I think it has become normal to take some risks. That’s my style.
“Obviously you can always improve and there are things that I can progress in. This is the best place to do it.
“I want to help the team continue to grow. I want to show in my performance and to convey the feeling that behind my peers is someone who does their job well, has no problem with that. I think it’s the perfect job.
“I know what’s to come. I’ve been informed about all this and in all this time, I know that here the demand is high and it’s only worth winning. I’ll do my best for Barca to succeed.”
Ter Stegen also spoke highly of his predecessor, Victor Valdes, who is to leave the club this summer.
“He has had phenomenal years here and has won many titles with Barcelona,” he added.
“It is clear that he has left his mark, and has lived historical moments here.
“I believe he has been a great goalkeeper and we can only tip our hat with everything he has done for the club.
“Now he starts something new, and I 'm happy for what is to come. We have a very different goalkeeper between the sticks who will surely do different things, but I hope to adapt well.”
Ter Stegen offered his thoughts on Luis Enrique, the new Barca Coach, rating the ex-Celta Vigo Coach as the ideal man for the Barca bench.
“He did a lot for this team, won a lot. I believe his personal experience can help the team,” Ter Stegen said.
“You can convey personal things experiences and help the players.
“It’s always difficult, if you haven’t been a player with great success, to transmit your ideas.
“That’s why I think he is the perfect man for this position.
“I am lucky to play on the same team as some of the best players in the world. It’s better to play with them then against them.
“I believe we have good things ahead.
“Barca, I think since childhood, has been a dream for me. For me it was and is the only option that I have considered.
“I’ve been given this opportunity, I’m happy to be here and I really want to get on the field and play.”
