Alba feels bad for Martino

Jordi Alba has admitted that he ‘feels bad’ for Tata Martino, after the Argentine Coach’s departure from Barcelona.

The former Newell’s Old Boys boss lasted just one season in charge at Camp Nou – failing to win a trophy and drawing criticism for his style of play.

But the defender has claimed that the tactician was unfairly criticised by fans and some members of the Press.

“The season hasn't been good,” he told reporters. “I feel bad for all my teammates, since we're the ones who really feel it the most, for the fans and for Tata, because he's been criticised without any justification.

“I really feel worst for the Coach.”

The Spain defender then commented on President Josep Maria Bartomeu’s revelation that there will be ‘profound’ changes at Camp Nou, and Luis Enrique’s appointment as Coach.

“The President is the one who calls the shots, the one that decides the path for the club to take, whether they end up being good or bad.

“If the President said that, then he'll have his reasons. Whatever they do then we're sure it'll be good for us. We respect the clubs signings and sales. That's just a law of life.

“I really liked [Luis Enrique] as a player and I've heard great things about him as a coach. He was an exemplary player. His character was what really stood out.”
