Suarez: No Barca or Madrid clause

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says there is no clause in his contract that would allow him special dispensation to join Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan has enjoyed a stellar season at Anfield, scoring 31 Premier League goals and winning a host of individual awards as the Reds narrowly missed out on the title.

However, speculation throughout the year has linked him with a summer move to one of La Liga’s big two, with Madrid recently reported to be preparing a bid of around £70m for the player.

“I know that I never signed a contract where there is a clause giving priority to any team,” Suarez is quoted as saying by AS.

“I know that I have had a good season and that there is Press speculation, but now I am concentrating on the World Cup.

“I don’t know whether Barca even need a ‘number nine,’ they have great players. Barca know which players they need and which players the Coach wants.

“It’s not my decision, at the moment I have a contract with Liverpool and I give everything to any team I am playing for, with desire and sacrifice.”

The 27-year-old was then asked for his opinions on Barcelona’s style of play in general and his race for the European golden boot with Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese currently has the same number of League goals as Suarez, but the Uruguayan will win the award by virtue of having scored his goals in fewer appearances should Ronaldo fail to find the net in Los Blancos’ final La Liga match on Saturday.

“Everyone knows that for Barca, with the qualities that they have, it is impossible for them to stop their tiqui-taca!

“It’s great to watch, the thing is that Coaches now know how they play so it is becoming more and more difficult for them.

“I hope that Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t score any more goals! He is one of the best players in the world, he is fighting for the Golden Boot but I would never hope that a player cannot play.

“If he scores it would be a shame but I wouldn’t go crazy!”
