Rakitic: I want to play CL football

Ivan Rakitic has admitted that he would be open to a move to Real Madrid for next season.

The Croatia international has been superb for Sevilla this term, guiding the Andalusians to fifth place in the table and the Europa League final.

The playmaker though, has conceded that all players want to participate in the Champions League.

“Madrid? We've got to wait for the [Europa League] final, and the World Cup, then we'll see,” he told Kicker.

“This year we've taken a big step forward, but all players want to play in the Champions League.”

The 26-year-old then commented on Wednesday night’s clash in Turin against Benfica.

“The whole side are excited by the game. Benfica might have more experience, but there's no favourite.

“They lost the Europa League final last year, and we've got to put them under pressure. We don't have players like Luis Fabiano anymore, we're a side in transition but we are hungry and young.”
