Schuster: Malaga need points

Malaga Coach Bernd Schuster says his own team need points when they take on Atletico Madrid tomorrow.

The visitors will very much be a sideshow at Vicente Calderon as Diego Simeone’s side go in search of a win that could secure the La Liga title.

However, the German tactician says the fact his side have wasted chances to secure their safety means it is imperative that they themselves go in search of victory.

“We had two very fair chances to resolve our issues but we weren’t able to take them,” Schuster said at his pre-match Press conference.

“It will be a difficult match, but it is a match that any professional should enjoy playing in and representing their team.

“Atletico are the hardest opponents in the League and the most difficult to play against.

“We are obliged to win because if we don’t, we will be relying on other teams to do us a favour.

“We have two difficult tasks against Atletico. We need to defend well and look to create a few chances.

“We have been training well and the team is not relaxing. We need to show our professional pride in these two upcoming matches. We must compete at 200 per cent.

“I couldn’t care less who wins the League, I have nothing to do with it. I want Malaga to win against everyone, even though Atletico do deserve it for the season they are having.

“It’s vital and good that someone other than Real Madrid or Barcelona could win the League.”
