Laporte ‘wants Barca move’

Aymeric Laporte is said to be keen on a move to Barcelona but Athletic Bilbao are likely to price the defender out of the market.

Sport reports that the France international is open to switching to Camp Nou but Athletic’s insistence that he won’t be sold would leave Barca needing to meet his €36m buyout clause, plus tax.

There is though a reluctance to do that from La Blaugrana as such a sizeable fee would eat into the funds for other purchases.

Laporte is said to be equally happy to remain at San Mames and play a part in next season’s Champions League campaign.

Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is thought to be hopeful of negotiating with Athletic, despite the entrenched position of President Jose Urrutia, and if unsuccessful Zubi will decide if Laporte’s price is worth paying.
