Fontas ‘would love’ to beat Madrid

Celta Vigo’s Andreu Fontas says he would love his side to defeat Real Madrid at the weekend.

The Galician side are ninth in the La Liga table and have won their last three games of what has been a successful season.

Los Blancos saw their title hopes severely dented by a late Valladolid equaliser last night but the defender said Carlo Ancelotti’s side would still really want to win the match.

“I don’t want to win to ruin anyone’s title chances,” Fontas told reporters today. “But, for us to finish in the top half of the table would be the icing on the cake of this magnificent season. So I would love to win.

“It is a shame that the League is finishing soon because we are on a great run of form at the moment.

“The whole team have done very well this season.

“Madrid will come with desire to play a good match to get their last result out of their system. Also, they will want to give themselves a chance to take advantage in case Atletico or Barcelona slip up.

“Luckily and because of the work we have done, we are now in a situation where we have achieved our objective.

“Now we want to get a win that would be fantastic for our fans.”
