JIM: A good point if we stay up

Juan Ignacio Martinez was pleased to see Real Valladolid draw with Real Madrid but insisted safety is not yet assured.

Humberto Osorio claimed an 85th minute equaliser to cancel out Sergio Ramos’ opener and hard Madrid’s title aspirations.

The point had also had a telling effect on Pucela as they moved outside the bottom three, ahead of Getafe on the head-to-head record.

“This point will be terrific if we stay up,” Martinez said at his post-match Press conference, according to AS.

“It is a point that takes us out of the relegation zone. We’re in a very good emotional state and now we have to recover physically and mentally because we haven’t achieved anything yet.

“Valladolid have shown we are alive. We were always in the match. We were groggy at 1-0 and we had to react.

“We can take another step towards staying up against Sevilla.”

Martinez added that Cristiano Ronaldo being forced off effected Madrid in what was a topsy-turvy game.

“The match has taken many turns. Changing Cristiano forced Madrid to look for other things,” he continued.

“The exhaustion of the two teams has been noticed. Madrid are a great team and it’s hard to go against them.

“We’re very strong in defence and it must continue. We believe.”
