‘Almeria had obligation to win’

Francisco said Almeria had to beat Real Betis after Ramon Azeez scored in the 94th minute to give the 10 men the points.

Suso was sent off not long into the second-half with his side leading 1-0, the on-loan Liverpool man dismissed minutes after Oscar Diaz’s opener.

Betis regrouped to take the lead on the hour but Aleix Vidal equalised before Azeez’s last-gasp intervention.

The result takes Almeria out of the bottom three with two games to play. Francisco’s side are 16th and the Coach said after the match that defeat was not an option.

“It’s what we wanted. It was our obligation to win. We had three finals and now we have two,” Marca reports the Coach as saying.

“We’ve had chances to go in front in the first-half but we couldn’t. We’ve shown we believe we can reach the last day with possibilities.

“You can’t always overcome going down to 10 men for a team like us.”
