Camp Nou open for Vilanova tribute

Barcelona have confirmed that they will be opening up part of the main grandstand at Camp Nou for people to leave tributes to Tito Vilanova.

The former Coach passed away on Friday aged 45 after he lost his lengthy battle with cancer.

And the club have revealed that they will be keeping part of their stadium open for fans and well-wishers to mourn the death of the tactician.

“The club wishes to express its most heartfelt sympathy to his family, who are being joined in these moments of mourning by FC Barcelona members and fans all around the world, as well as the rest of the footballing and sporting world,” a statement read.

“The Vilanova family has asked for respect for their desire for the strictest intimacy in the moments after his death.

“Over the next few hours, FC Barcelona will be opening a space in the main grandstand at the Camp Nou for people to express their condolences, which will be open to anyone who wishes to express their sympathy and love for the late Tito Vilanova.

“FC Barcelona have also opened a space in the main stand at the Camp Nou for tributes to Tito Vilanova. This space will be open on Saturday from 9.00 am to 11.00 pm and on Sunday from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. (all times CET)”

Vilanova’s funeral will take place at Barcelona Cathedral on Monday evening.
