Emery: Sevilla not through yet

Unai Emery has warned against assuming Sevilla are through to the Europa League final after their first-leg victory over Valencia.

Sevilla took a 2-0 win from the initial encounter after goal from Stephane Mbia and Carlos Bacca, although the former should have been given offside.

“We have no standing in the final. There is a lot remaining,” Mundo Deportivo reports Emery as saying after the final whistle.

“They can recover. They’ve done it before and Sevilla have experience of that as well.

“We have to be cautious and respectful because there are 90 very long minutes at Mestalla.

“Valencia have had options but not scored. We’ve had to suffer and seek more chances to get our result, but 2-0 is justice and we are satisfied.

“I know [the first goal] was offside and it benefitted us. But we did have more chances to score,” Emery argued, adding that he doesn’t feel the first goal was critical to the final score.
