‘Neymar is a genius’

Roberto Carlos has lavished praise upon Brazil and Barcelona forward Neymar, while revealing is future Coaching aspirations.

Sport reports that the former Real Madrid full-back has conducted an interview with German publication Sport Bild in which Carlos pointed to the example of Pep Guardiola as his reason for wanting to work in the Bundesliga.

But Carlos’ hopes don’t end at club level, he revealed.

“I want to be Coach of the Brazil national team,” the current boss of Turkish side Sivasspor said.

“Maybe I will be the first Brazilian to Coach a German club.

“The Bundesliga is very attractive. Or do you think Guardiola has gone to Germany for the beer?”

Carlos added that he expects Brazil to lift the World Cup on home soil this summer, with Neymar a key protagonist for the hosts.

“Not only do Brazil have the advantage of playing at home but also Felipe Scolari has changed the way of playing,” Carlos said when pushed on Brazil’s tournament chances.

“We saw that when Brazil won the Confederations Cup in 2013.

“Neymar is a genius and will be a key player at the World Cup.

“What is striking about him is his character. You always need players with good judgement and confidence on the pitch.”
