Barcelona will look to sign Aymeric Laporte once their transfer ban is over, according to reports.

The Blaugrana are set to serve a two-window ban after breaking FIFA rules over signing under-18 players.

But that hasn’t stopped the Camp Nou outfit targeting the Athletic Bilbao youngster, Mundo Deportivo claim.

The paper leads with the news that the hierarchy at Barca were so impressed by the teenager’s performance in their 2-1 win over Los Leones last Sunday, that they will hope to sign him in 2015.

The Catalan club are in desperate need of a centre-back, with Carles Puyol leaving, Gerard Pique injured and Javier Mascherano being converted from a central midfielder.

They see Laporte as the best option available, but are somewhat put off Athletic’s €36m asking price.
