Marcelino: Patience was key

Marcelino believes Villarreal’s last-minute win over Levante was fair reward for the patience they showed throughout the game.

Jeremy Perbet scored in injury time to give the Yellow Submarine victory over Les Granotes and Marca reports that after the match, the Coach insisted patience was the key.

He added that Villarreal are now within touching distance of a Europa League place.

“We talked about patience and eventually we got a tremendously important victory,” Marcelino said.

“You always have faith. We suffered a lot and it was pretty bad but worth it.

“Hopefully in future we get the goals for victory a little earlier.

“We’ve moved up a place [after Real Sociedad drew with Celta Vigo] and this victory gives us a lot of hope.

“We have a big advantage over our pursuers. It’s not over but we’re getting close.”
