CL: Madrid clubs kept apart in draw

Real Madrid will play Bayern Munich while Atletico Madrid play Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals.

The draw was conducted today in Nyon by former Madrid winger Luis Figo.

Los Blancos were the first name out of the hat and have been paired with the current holders Bayern Munich and former Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola.

Atletico meanwhile meet former Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho amid controversy over the availability of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan at Vicente Calderon from the Blues.

It had been suggested Atletico would have to pay a hefty sum to Chelsea to have Courtois available but UEFA have said that would contravene their rules on loans between clubs.

The semi-final first-legs will be played on April 22 and 23 with the returns on April 29 and April 30.

Lisbon is the venue for the final on May 24. The winners of the Madrid-Bayern match will be the nominal home side.
