Bale: WC or La Decima? Both!

Rather than choose between playing at the World Cup with Wales or winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, Gareth Bale wants both.

The forward was asked the question as part of a Real Madrid ‘hangout’ with topics ranging from his memories of Madrid before he moved to the club to why he became a footballer in the first place.

“I want both,” Bale confirmed.

“Madrid are in a good position and hopefully we can win the Champions League. And hopefully someday I might play at a World Cup with my national team.

“There are two very important games to come [in the Champions League]. Playing the final would be a dream.”

Bale added that seeing Madrid’s last European Cup victory is a memory that he still has today.

“I remember the great goal from [Zinidine] Zidane,” Bale said.

“This is the world’s biggest club. Being part of this club and playing for it is incredible.

“We will fight for every title because we have the best fans in the world.

“I enjoy playing here. I want to be here as long as possible and hopefully win many titles.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur player was asked for his favourite memories from his first season at Santiago Bernabeu.

“Scoring a hat-trick against Real Valladolid,” he replied.

“And I’ll never forget the goal I scored against Elche at the Bernabeu.

“It’s a great feeling to score. Every time I do I get excited and I’m happy for the Madrid fans.”

One participant in the hangout asked Bale why he wanted to be a professional footballer.

“It was always my dream. I didn’t think of anything else,” Bale revealed.

“My father is the one who inspired me, taking me every day to training.”
