€6m for Courtois to play Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois could play for Atletico Madrid against Chelsea if the sides are paired in the Champions League semi-final – for €6m.

AS reports Atletico President Enrique Cerezo as telling Onda Cero that there is a clause that allows the goalkeeper to line-up against his parent club.

But according to the terms of Courtois’ third loan agreement, Atletico would have to pay €3m per game.

Over a two-legged semi-final Atletico would be faced with a bill of €6m and Cerezo has said the club won’t do it.

“It’s a figure we can’t afford,” Cerezo is quoted as confirming.

Atletico and Chelsea are joined by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the final four. The draw will be made on Friday.
