‘Athletic can get back on track’

Ernesto Valverde believes Athletic Bilbao’s visit to Levante tonight is a chance for the Champions League chasers to resurrect their form.

Athletic were beaten in their last outing by Atletico Madrid and drew with Elche in the game prior to that.

They are three points clear of Sevilla after the weekend’s results and Valverde wants his team to return to their best at Ciudad Valencia.

“I don’t think this is the final blow. I just think we’re travelling with the obligation to add three points,” Valverde said.

“We’ve got more to play for than Levante, who won more than peace by beating Granada the other day.

“It’s true that in these next two games we’re going to have to show grit.

“We have before us a chance to get back on track.”

Valverde added that he doesn’t like playing on a Monday, but admits he has grown accustomed to it this season. Marca notes this will be Athletic’s 11th Monday fixture of the campaign.

“Monday isn’t the day for football but maybe you could say we’re getting used to it,” Valverde said.
