Ancelotti: I’m proud of Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken of his satisfaction after seeing Real Madrid dispatch Real Sociedad 4-0 at Anoeta.

Goals from Asier Illarramendi, Gareth Bale, Pepe and Alvaro Morata maintained Madrid’s title challenge after wins for Barcelona and leaders Atletico Madrid.

Marca reports Ancelotti as saying post-match that he was also happy to see the team win without the rested Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I appreciate the whole game because we played very well, very intelligently. I’m very happy,” the Coach said.

“It wasn’t easy but I have a team that likes to fight. I’m proud to coach this team.

“Gareth Bale is comfortable on the left and he and Cristiano often change positions.

“We had to avoid injury so I rested Cristiano. My second concern was the physical aspect of the team.

“We defended very well and had to be very organized.

“The victory strengthens us and the team. We will fight until the last game.

“[Illara] being booed didn’t bother him.. He concentrated and defended well.”
