Bartomeu and Blatter ‘have spoken’

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and his FIFA counterpart Sepp Blatter have spoken about the transfer ban given to the club.

The Catalans were barred from making any signings for the next two transfer windows after being found to have breached rules regarding the signing and registering of players from outside Spain under the age of 18.

Barca are appealing the decision and Mundo Deportivo reports a telephone conversation has taken place between Bartomeu and Blatter.

It is claimed that during the conversation Blatter moved to assure Bartomeu of the independence of the FIFA committees that have been involved in the case.

The player status committee first examined the matter after receiving what Mundo describes as an ‘anonymous tip-off’ with the disciplinary committee deciding the club’s punishment.

A Real Madrid Vice-president, Pedro Lopez Jimenez, sits on the player status committee but he has denied having any say in the affair.

Bartomeu held a Press conference before his conversation with Blatter at which he suggested there were people moving against Barca, and vowed to discover who had initiated the case.
