Unai Emery believes referee Juan Martinez Munuera decided Sevilla’s game against Celta Vigo when he gave a penalty against his side.
Nolito convted the 87th minute spot kick to deliver the points to Celta after Federico Fazio was whistled for handball.
Emery said at his post-match Press conference that he felt Sevilla were punished by Munuera’s interpretation of the laws of the game.
“It looked clear it was going to be a draw but the referee decided the game,” Emery said.
“He could have whistled for a foul for Sevilla or a penalty.
“They tell me it’s not that clear on television either so it’s a shame that the referee was so strict with his decision, but he should have given a foul before the penalty.”
Emery also rued an earlier decision that went against his side despite being, the Coach claimed, borderline.
“We had a goal ruled out for offside but it was along the line and difficult to see,” Emery claimed.
“We were wronged by the referee’s decisions but I want to congratulate Celta as well.”
