Thiago suffers suspected ligament tear

Thiago Alcantara has suffered a ‘suspected partial ligament tear’ in his knee, with the Bayern Munich man set to miss their clash against Manchester United.

The midfielder will definitely sit out the German champion’s match at Old Trafford in the Champions League next week after he came off in their 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim this afternoon.

The youngster was subbed off after only 25 minutes and the club’s official Twitter feed confirmed soon after that: “Thiago Alcantara has a suspected partial ligament tear in his knee. Get well soon!”

It is bad news for the Bavarians, but could also be devastating for the Spanish national team.

The former Barcelona man has been plagued with injuries this term since leaving for Germany, and this latest blow comes with the World Cup just 75 days away.

There is no official confirmation however, as to how long the midfielder will be sidelined for.
