Former Real Madrid boss John Toshack has hit out at Gareth Bale for changing his boots against Sevilla on Wednesday.
The Wales international left the pitch 70 minutes in against the Rojiblancos to change his footwear.
Whilst the former Spurs man was taking his boots off and putting on new ones by the touchline, Sevilla began an unhindered counter-attack on the left-wing exactly where Bale should have been defending.
And after Los Blancos lost 2-1 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the tactician claimed that what the winger did was ‘criminal’.
“Bale changing his boots 70 minutes in – leaving the pitch to change them – is criminal,” he is reported as saying in Marca.
“The Coach should give him the silent treatment for a month. At Liverpool, the club I grew up at, it would be simply inconceivable. "
