‘Rayo can win at Madrid’

Rayo Vallecano midfielder Roberto Trashorras believes his side can upset Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu this weekend.

The Vallecas-based club go into the game in 12th place and unbeaten in their last six games – winning five.

“Of course we can win at the Bernabeu,” Trashorras told AS.

“We’re in a situation where we can’t give away anything or let our tempo get lower.

“It’s a cliché but we have to approach the game looking forward.

“In football anything can happen and we will go with the belief we can win. Otherwise, we wouldn’t go at all.”

Trashorras was asked if he was afraid Rayo would be on the receiving end of a Madrid backlash after Los Blancos lost their last two games.

“There’s no fear in football. I don’t fear anything,” the former Real Madrid Castilla player replied.

“Yes, I respect everyone, but if I’m afraid, what will I have?

“Rather, it’s a privilege that is available to very few to play on that field against one of the best teams in the world.

“It’s a game that gives you prestige if you can make it a good game and get three points.

“Madrid arrive for every game the same, because they have a great team and are playing at home.

“Our intention is to compete and enjoy the game because these are the games you have to enjoy, but we will try to exploit the opportunities we have.”
