Osasuna concerned after Rayo loss

Osasuna assistant Alfredo Sanchez has admitted the club are getting worried about relegation after defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

A last minute Joaquin Larrivey penalty condemned the Pamplona side to defeat at Vallecas, their fifth straight reverse, with Osasuna only a point ahead of 18th-place Getafe having played a game more.

“This is a bad result. The penalty took away any chance of getting a point and ruined all of our hard work,” Sanchez told reporters.

“We knew Rayo wanted to play good football and would be difficult to stop, so the game went as we expected.

“We’re getting more concerned because the days left in the season are getting fewer.

“But I have confidence the players will show the best of themselves and a better side on Sunday [against Real Sociedad].”
