Escriba happy with Elche draw

Elche Coach Fran Escriba believes the goalless draw with Athletic Bilbao is a positive result considering the strength of the opposition.

The game at Martinez Valero finished goalless and leaves Elche three points clear of the relegation zone.

Escriba told his post-match Press conference that he wasn’t troubled by his team’s failure to score at home.

“Athletic are a great team with a great Coach and we gave it our all,” he said.

“If we didn’t get many chances on goal it’s because they didn’t let us.

“I would be concerned if we didn’t create chances.

“I’m not leaving the match disappointed. Scoring is the hardest thing to do in football.”

Escriba also praised the home fans, thanking them for their backing and asking for more as the season comes to a climax.

“The fans made this the best game of the year. They gave us more support than ever and that’s what I want for the rest of the season.”
