Aguirre: Espanyol lacked luck

Espanyol Coach Javier Aguirre believes his side didn’t have luck go with them in the goalless draw with Levante.

Aguirre added however that Espanyol didn’t create many clear chances in the game after an early effort from Hector Moreno was saved by Keylor Navas.

“It could have been different with that first attack. From there we tried but we were bogged down in the game,” Aguirre told a Press conference.

“We didn’t have clear chances but we had a few that could have gone in.

“We lacked a goal and a little bit of luck in the final third.

“We wanted three points and that wasn’t possible. All I can do is praise the players for their performance.”

Aguirre has come under criticism of late but says he won’t alter his stance that Espanyol need to think about guaranteeing top flight safety before pushing up the table.

“It’s not that I don’t reach beyond that but in 12 years of managing in La Liga I’ve seen strange things happen, even with 37 points,” Aguirre countered.
