Emery: Sevilla gave their all

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery has praised the efforts of his players in overturning the 2-0 deficit against Real Betis in the Europa League.

Los Rojiblancos won 2-0 at Benito Vilamarin on Thursday to level the tie on aggregate and eventually ran out winners in a penalty shootout.

Emery, speaking at a post-match Press conference, said the win was motivated by the support from their fans.

“The team gave everything they had. They are drained,” he added.

“We are very happy for the fans. All of the strength throughout the competition was seen in this match.

“But we have to keep going. We can’t stop and be just another name in this competition.

“It was an uphill battle, a challenge. We knew it would be difficult. We thought we could do it in 90 minutes but we did it in 120. It was very tough.

“Playing against Betis goes far beyond the competition. There are a lot of emotions and there’s a big difference between winning and losing.

“We knew early on we could win it and we did. We’re very happy.”
