Pellegrini wants Barca reaction

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has called on his players to respond to their FA Cup exit against Barcelona.

City travel to Camp Nou on Wednesday for the second leg of the Champions League tie but go into the game on the back of a home defeat to Championship side Wigan Athletic.

Wigan, the FA Cup holders, beat City in last year’s final and recorded a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium to progress to the semi-finals.

“I think it’s the worst game we’ve played at home this year,” Pellegrini said after the match.

“But now we have to continue fighting in the Champions League and the Premier League.

“We have a lot to strive for between now and the end of the season.

“First we must try to win in Barcelona. It’s a game we go into with a 2-0 deficit so it will be very difficult.

“We must react [Monday morning] with responsibility for what happened [against Wigan] but I’m very confident about what we can do in the future.

“We will try to play a good game [at Barca] and see what happens.”
