Raul wants Xavi in Qatar

Raul will try to tempt Xavi Hernandez to quit Barcelona and join him in Qatar this summer, reports have claimed.

AS says the former Real Madrid forward will entreaty his old Spain teammate to make Qatar his next move, possibly as soon as after the World Cup.

Xavi has previously spoken of his desire to retire at Barca – and AS says he is considered a future Barca Coach – but rumours have persisted that Xavi will depart Camp Nou.

A link to MLS has refused to go away, with Xavi mentioned in connection with both New York Red Bulls and New York City FC, the MLS franchise owned by Premier League Manchester City.

AS adds that Barca’s season may dictate Xavi’s future – if La Blaugrana claim the treble, as Xavi has suggested is the aim, then the midfielder may choose to leave on a high.

This summer would not be the first that has seen Xavi the subject of interest from outside Barcelona, with AS noting that Paris Saint-Germain wanted Xavi and were willing to pay a lot of money for him.
