Carlo Ancelotti was unequivocal in his praise for Real Madrid after they thrashed Schalke 6-1 on Wednesday.

Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo shared two goals each as Los Blancos beat their German rivals in the Champions League Last 16 first leg.

“The match was perfect,” he told Canal +. “We all played well together, working as one.

“Everything has gone well tonight – defensively, in attack.

“The front three especially, looked very dangerous.”
