Diego Costa has praised Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for his performance in the 1-0 Champions League win over Milan.
Costa scored the only goal of the game but two saves from Courtois prevented Milan taking the lead, the Belgian first getting a slight touch on a curling Kaka effort that struck the bar.
Courtois then kept out Andrea Poli’s header with a reflex stop, pushing the ball against the post.
“Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he knows it,” Costa told UEFA’s website after the match.
“With a keeper like him, we feel more secure.”
Costa however warned against over-confidence after the away win, stressing Milan are a dangerous opponent with only a slender lead.
“We know this is not finished yet. We have a good result but Milan are a great side and anything can happen.
“We’re not going to be over-confident. After our run of defeats people lost faith but we’ve shown how strong we are.”
