Valverde satisfied with a point

Athletic Bilbao Coach Ernesto Valverde revealed he is content with a point from Monday’s game against Celta Vigo.

The game ended goalless but Valverde conceded Celta were the more likely winners and with that in mind, he was satisfied with the draw at Balaidos.

“We worked hard to get this draw,” Valverde said at a post-match Press conference.

“It’s true that in the second half there was a period when we looked close to scoring but it is also true that in the first half it was Celta who looked like scoring.

“We haven’t had our best day and we were made to suffer.”

The draw leaves Athletic in fourth, four points clear of Villarreal.

Valverde added that the frantic start made by Celta caught Athletic unawares.

“We were surprised by Celta at the start, how high they pressured us. They started well, with great intensity and that forced us to play longer.

“The pitch was also very heavy and prevented us from playing the way we usually do.

“We have to think this is a good point to take.

“It’s true in the second half they were forced back but it would be unfair to say we deserved to win, because we didn’t have many good chances.”
