Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell is one of the names on Atletico Madrid’s shortlist for a midfield signing.
Joshua Guilavogui is expected to return to St Etienne before the winter transfer deadline and Diego Simeone will then sign a replacement in midfield.
Valencia’s Ever Banega is a possibility to England international Rodwell is also under consideration, Marca has reported.
Rodwell moved to City in 2012 from Everton but has suffered with length injuries limiting his appearances at the Etihad Stadium.
Diego, who spent a year on loan at the Vicente Calderon in 2011-12 is another option for El Cholo, while Javier Pastore has also been mentioned.
