Ibrahimovic: Messi is back

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes the solo goal scored by Lionel Messi against Getafe is proof his former Barcelona teammate is back to his best

Messi scored twice at Coliseum Alfonso Perez as Barca won the Copa del Rey tie 2-0 on the night and 6-0 on aggregate – with Messi claiming two in the first leg.

Ibra was impressed by both of Messi’s goals in the second-leg but feels it is the mazy second that proves Messi is over the injury that ruled him out for two months.

“It’s extraordinary the things he does,” Marca quotes Ibrahimovic as telling ESPN.

“I saw his goals against Getafe and the second shows the magic’s back.

“He’s still hungry. It’s fun to watch.”

Ibrahimovic added that he is sorry he won’t be able to join the likes of Messi at this summer’s World Cup after Sweden were beaten in a play-off by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

“I’m still disappointed,” the Paris Saint-Germain forward said.

“We all want to be able to play in Brazil. The World Cup is where the best football is played.”
