Former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper and Coach Abel Resino believes Thibaut Courtois would be an ideal signing for Barcelona.
Victor Valdes has announced his intention to leave Camp Nou at the end of his contract and Courtois has been mentioned as a possible replacement.
Resino feels that the on-loan Chelsea stopper would be a smart choice, with the Belgium international having all the qualities needed for Barca.
“He’s young, quiet, good with his feet, although not as good as Valdes,” Resino is quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.
“Courtois knows the Spanish League, knows the language. He has everything.
“His footwork is of a level good enough for Barca. He’d be good for any team, including Atletico. He would be ideal for Barca.”
Courtois and Valdes will share the pitch on Saturday as Barca travel to the Vicente Calderon and the contest between the two goalkeepers is one Resino is looking forward to.
“It will be a great duel between Valdes and Courtois. They are two great goalkeepers and belong in a special category. They’re cracks, and it’ll be an important game.
“The excitement in this Atletico-Barca-Madrid title race is for Atletico. Even the Barca-Madrid match is a match to see how it affects Atletico’s fight to win the League,” Resino added.
