Rennes track Espanyol hitman

French outfit Rennes are tracking Espanyol striker Thievy Bifouma, according to Marca.

Thievy has revealed that the Catalans are asking €4m for him and that he would be open to a return to the country of his birth.

The 21-year-old has made 11 La Liga appearances for Los Pericos this term, scoring three times, but believes a move to Rennes would be a good opportunity for him.

“It’s true that I’ve spoken with their representatives,” he told Luis Fernandez’s radio programme in France.

“They have a fantastic project and it’s an interesting option for me. The Espanyol management told me before that they would sell me for €10m, but now it is €4m, so that’s good.”

It is believed that Rennes have already had a bid of around €2m rejected for the player, who arrived at Espanyol as a 17-year-old having spent his formative years with Strasbourg.

Malaga are also reported to be monitoring his situation and could be ready to make an offer.
