Barcelona are believed to have an agreement in principal with Lionel Messi to improve his contract, to at least match Cristiano Ronaldo’s earnings.
The Portuguese is seen to be pulling in approximately €21m a year with his new deal signed with Real Madrid, based on an initial salary and easily achievable clauses included.
On from continued reports of Barca’s intention to appease their No 10 with an improved deal, Sport report that a deal in principal is already in place.
With Messi seen as currently earning €16m, it is understood that Barca are looking to increase his salary by at least €5m a year, so as to place the Argentine at the top of the global salary charts.
