Bartra renewal ‘imminent’

Mundo Deportivo believe that Barcelona are close to agreeing a new five-and-a-half-year contract with Marc Bartra.

The young centre-back has been in ongoing talks with the Catalans over a renewal since the summer, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Whilst approaching the month of January with increasing speculation over his future, Mundo Deportivo are reporting this week that an agreement on an extension is imminent.

The publication assert that only a final ok from the player’s representative Magic Diaz is required before all parties sign off and make the news official.

The 22-year-old, who has enjoyed a more involved role in first-team affairs under Tata Martino this term, is believed set to commit to the club until June 2019 and is expected to sign off before December 31.

The Catalans yesterday made official Andres Iniesta’s contract extension, are in talks with Gerard Pique too and reported today as also set to finalise terms on another renewal for Lionel Messi.
