Highly rated centre-back Aymeric Laporte has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Athletic Bilbao today.
On from committing Carlos Gurpegi and Andoni Iraola to new deals through to June 2015 and Ibai Gomez to one until June 2017, Athletic have tied down the 19-year-old now until June 2018.
Laporte, who has recently broken into the Under-21 set-up with France, only debuted for Athletic 12 months ago in La Liga, when he signed his last contract until June 2016.
Today confirmed as extending that by a further two years, Athletic have also reported that they have upped Laporte’s buyout clause from €27.5m to €36m.
A number of large clubs across Europe are seen as following Laporte’s development at San Mames.
