‘Barca are happy with Martino’

Josep Maria Bartomeu has outlined Barcelona’s satisfaction with developing ‘new ways of playing’ under Tata Martino.

On the day that reports have emerged in Argentina indicating that the Coach is unhappy and considering his future at the club beyond this season, due to criticism for his style of play at the Camp Nou, one of the club’s Vice-President’s has assessed the work under him.

“Guardiola did a sensational job at Barca. He took the club to excellence. Then Tito came, but he could not continue,” began Bartomeu at a talk today.

“Now with Tata Martino, the team has found alternatives to their attacking play. We are happy with the Coach, as the team has new ways of playing.

“Building the Barca project? It is not a matter of a couple of days. There is much work behind this.”

Bartomeu, who was attending the Foot Expo Forum in Marrakech, was asked about Barca’s intentions to renovate the current stadium, or build a new Camp Nou.

“It is one of the most important issues at the moment. It is the club’s members, our true owners, who will decide what will happen to the Camp Nou.”
