Valdes ready by January 5

Victor Valdes is reportedly seen by medical staff at Barcelona as in contention to return to first team action by the first game of the new year.

The goalkeeper has been out of action since suffering a torn calf muscle playing for Spain in mid-November.

On from Coach Tata Martino’s assertion that the 31-year-old will be back at training when his teammates are scheduled to return, Mundo Deportivo assert he could be ready by the first game of the new year.

It is believed that medical staff at the club are looking at the goalkeeper’s current recovery from his injury and have Barca’s League match at home to Elche on January 5 as a plausible return date.
