Aperribay Real presidency extended

Jokin Aperribay will continue as Real Sociedad President for another five years, whilst he has affirmed: “We have no interest in selling any player.”

At Anoeta this week, the club have held their Annual General Meeting where the board voted 97.41 per cent in favour of Aperribay serving a second consecutive five-year term.

The board in total received an average support vote of 95 per cent to continue in their current positions, whilst reports from the meeting had shareholders present also expressing their congratulations to the President, who was unopposed as a candidate for the position.

Under Aperribay, La Real have moved out of administration and returned to the Primera Division and last year qualified for the Champions League.

Whilst talking of his hopes to renovate Anoeta during his second term, Aperribay also commented yesterday to shareholders of continued speculation surrounding a number of the team’s players, including Antoine Griezmann and Inigo Martinez.

“If a player wants to go, there is little that we can do, but we will not facilitate anyone leaving.

“Inigo? No-one [from Real Madrid] has shown their interest in him. We will strive to see that no player leaves us.

“We have no interest in selling.”
