Barcelona will play Manchester City, Atletico Madrid face Milan and Real Madrid are paired with Schalke in the Champions League Last 16.

La Liga’s three representatives still in the competition have now learned their opponents for the Last 16 of the competition, after UEFA today held the first knockout stage draw.

Barcelona, who have made the last four of the competition in each of the last six seasons, face Manchester City, who are making their first appearance in the knockout round of the competition.

This will be a first meeting between the two teams competitively, with City listing a number of familiar faces to La Liga, including Coach Manuel Pellegrini.

Atletico Madrid, who were unbeaten in Group G and assured top spot after just four rounds, are in the Last 16 for the first time since 2008-09.

Diego Simeone’s side have been rewarded with a tie against seven-time competition winners Milan, for a first ever meeting in this tournament.

Meanwhile, Raul Gonzalez’s two former sides will face off, as Real Madrid have been paired with Schalke in this round.

All three Spanish sides, as group winners, will play the second legs of their ties at home. The first legs are scheduled for February 18, 19, 25 and 26, and the second legs will be played on March 11, 12, 18 and 19.
