Inigo shrugs off Madrid talk

Inigo Martinez has reflected that there is nothing to rumours of a move from Real Sociedad to Real Madrid, although he is flattered.

The 22-year-old has seen speculation in the last fortnight centre on Madrid plotting a possible summer bid for his services.

However, the centre-back has affirmed his position on the matter and denied rumours that he has spoken to officials from Los Blancos, let alone agreed a potential contract.

“They came out, come out and will continue to come out, as rumours. There are some who assume they know and others who do not, but you have to take it naturally.

“I do not think it is real, at least I do not know anything, and I have to stay with that. I am 100 per cent here, and I want to fight for Real in the remaining years that I am here.

“I like that Madrid and Barcelona talk about me, I will not lie, but there is nothing in it.

“Will I one day leave La Real? You never know, like what happened with Asier [Illarramendi]. If the time comes, it will come.

“But it has not yet arrived. I am here and I am calm, because everything that has come out is not true at all.”

Inigo’s words follow club President Jokin Aperribay’s assertion this week that Madrid have not approached him either about a possible bid.
