Spurs to loan Lamela to Atleti?

Reports in England are that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to loan Erik Lamela out to Atletico Madrid in January.

Atleti, known to be working to a tight budget, have been linked with making moves in the winter market and have so far been paired with Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne and Milan’s Bryan Cristiante, as interest in Diego Ribas looks to once more come to nothing.

Despite only moving to White Hart Lane in the summer for €30m, reports in England this week indicate that another possible name headed to the Vicente Calderon is Erik Lamela.

The Daily Express lead speculation suggesting that the 21-year-old’s struggles so far to adapt to life in the Premier League have the club ready to send him out to work with Diego Simeone from January and to the end of the season.

It is understood that ‘tentative negotiations’ have already begun, whilst Mundo Deportivo add that talks between Atleti and the player’s representatives have also been held, with Lamela said to be very keen to work with compatriot Simeone.

Mundo Deportivo also suggest that Porto’s highly-rated youngster Juan Manuel Iturbe is yet another possible target for Atletico.

The Argentine is on loan for the year at Verona, who have an option to sign him outright in the summer.
