‘Rosell claim unfounded, reckless’

A source at Barcelona has labelled accusations that Sandro Rosell has ‘misappropriated’ funds from Neymar’s summer transfer as ‘unfounded and reckless’.

El Mundo have today reported that Jordi Cases, a Barcelona member who was unsuccessful in recent attempts to initiate a vote of no confidence in the club President, has brought legal action against him for ‘unlawful appropriation’ relating to the summer transfer of Neymar from Santos.

Cases, according to El Mundo, has accused Rosell of diverting €40m worth of funds in the deal that brought the player to Catalonia.

Cases’ lawyer is quoted in this accusation as listing Rosell as having kept the money, or shared it with others.

Barca, who have previously reported that they cannot make public full details of where all of the believed €57m fee was paid to for the player due to a confidentiality clause, have reportedly responded to Cases’ accusations today.

News agency EFE quote a source at the Camp Nou as listing these allegations against Rosell as ‘unfounded and reckless’ and that they ‘affect the image and credibility of the club’.
