Real: Inigo-Madrid ‘indications’

Real Sociedad sporting director Loren has conceded that there have been ‘indications’ that Real Madrid are interested in Inigo Martinez.

Speculation last week was that Los Blancos are readying a summer move for the highly-rated centre-back and, in light of experiences in signing Asier Illarramendi during the last transfer window, will be prepared to pay Inigo’s full buyout clause.

“I do not know if Illarra’s move can help more with how much Florentino plans to pay. Equally we can make that effort too. Fear not,” mused Loren to Mundo Deportivo this week.

“We must be prepared. Illarra was one of the players who were more settled here and neither he nor us thought about him leaving 15 days before he did leave. We have no confirmation of anything, but the front cover of a newspaper was very significant and very showy. He is a Real player and we hope that he will give his all for us, and from there we are prepared.

“Has there been an offer? We have had indications.”

Rumours were that Madrid were previously interested in the player before he had debuted at senior level.

“There are teams that are always there during the development of players. They want to buy as cheaply as possible ahead of time.

“There was nothing firm, but indeed they were here.

“Does Inigo want to go? No. He has not conveyed that. He transmits work, intensity and football. Here in Zubieta he is not going through the halls saying that he wants to leave. Away from here, I do not know what he thinks.”
