Emery happy with Sevilla clean sheet

Unai Emery was satisfied with Sevilla’s 1-0 first-leg Copa del Rey victory at Racing Santander and was happy to have kept a clean sheet.

A goal after just four minutes from Jairo Samperio was enough to settle a game in which the Andalusians had defender Coke dismissed eight minutes after the break for remarks made to referee Iglesias Villanueva.

“It was important to us not to concede any goals and we did well defensively. In general we played well because we have some experience of this type of game against a Segunda B side,” boss Emery told a post-match Press conference.

“Racing have more quality than the other teams in their division. I was expecting them to be good and they had their moments.

“I thinking Coke’s sending off conditioned the match. With 11 men we had chances and with 10 we defended well, and that was positive, although there were some blemishes on our performance.”
